Compare current holding values with allocation targets you choose. The result moves value between holdings while keeping the entered portfolio total unchanged.
How the calculation works
Target value = portfolio total × target weight. Trade value = target value - current value. Positive trade values mean buy; negative values mean sell.
Worked example
Example: values of 700 and 300 with targets of 50% each produce target values of 500 each. The arithmetic calls for selling 200 of the first holding and buying 200 of the second.
How to use the result
Enter current values rather than token quantities. Every holding must use the same quote currency. Targets are your choices; the calculator does not recommend weights.
Targets within 0.000001 percentage points of 100% are normalized to exactly preserve the total. Actual trade values change once trading costs are included.
What this result leaves out
- No trades are placed. Fees, taxes, spreads, slippage and changes in market prices are excluded.
- Cash and other assets must be entered as holdings if they belong in the allocation.
