Apply a token split or consolidation ratio to an amount. Optional price arithmetic shows how the unit price would change if total value stayed the same.
How the calculation works
New amount = old amount × new-tokens-per-old ratio. Value-preserving new unit price = old unit price ÷ ratio.
Worked example
Example: 250 old tokens at a 1000-for-1 split become 250,000 new tokens. A value-preserving price changes from 0.50 to 0.0005; the nominal total stays 125.
How to use the result
The ratio always means new units per one old unit. A smaller ratio consolidates units; a larger ratio splits them. Token amounts use exact decimal arithmetic.
A redenomination alone does not create value. The optional price calculation holds nominal total value constant and rounds its unit-price result to 18 decimal places.
What this result leaves out
- No swap is performed. The ratio, token precision, migration deadline and eligibility must come from the issuer.
- The arithmetic does not establish a future market price or preserve a token's actual purchasing power.
