Hold aggregate market cap constant and change circulating supply. See the price implied by that assumption and how an unchanged holding's supply share changes.
How the calculation works
New supply = current supply + additional tokens. Fixed-cap price = current price × current supply ÷ new supply. Holding share = holding ÷ circulating supply.
Worked example
Example: one million circulating tokens at 10 have a market cap of ten million. Adding 250,000 tokens while keeping that cap fixed implies a price of 8, a 20% decrease.
How to use the result
Supply growth and price decline use different denominators. A 25% supply increase implies a 20% price decrease only when market cap stays unchanged.
Enter additional circulating tokens, not all currently locked tokens unless they actually become circulating in your scenario.
What this result leaves out
- Unlocks do not mechanically cause the calculated price move. Demand and valuation can change.
- Holding quantity is fixed; a holder receiving some of the new tokens needs a separate scenario.
